Grandma Didn't Read Labels

Growing up, my grandmother made soap the old-fashioned way — yellow sulfur soap, handcrafted from scratch. After our baths, she'd rub lard onto our skin, then stand us beside the wood stove to let the warmth work it in.

Now, we weren't exactly thrilled about that part. "I'm hot, Grandma!" we'd say. And without missing a beat, she'd look at us and say, "That's too bad — turn around to the other side so it can finish cooking ya!"

We'd laugh. We'd turn. And when it was all done, our faces and bodies were shining like a new penny.

No fancy serums. No 10-step routines. Just time, heat, and ingredients that had been trusted for generations. Grandma knew it before the beauty industry made it a trend — and that wisdom is in every product we make at OB&B.

From Kitchen Garden to Your Shower

OB&B began in my kitchen with herbs from my garden and a lot of trial and error. I wasn't a big lab — I was a person with sensitive skin making soap I could actually use.

That first batch of Tea Tree & Orange is still our #1 bestseller. Why? Because it's the bar that minds its business. It cleans. It calms. It doesn't strip you or start a fight with your skin.

Now we make every bar, oil, and butter in small batches right here in Corryton, Tennessee. No outsourcing. No mystery ingredients. If I wouldn't use it on my own face, it doesn't leave the shop.

We believe:

Why Tea Tree & Orange Became The One

Customers started telling us: "My husband stole it." "My teen uses it." "My eczema-prone family shares one bar."

It wasn't the plan. But it makes sense. When a bar is strong enough to keep pores clear and gentle enough not to trigger a flare-up, it becomes the bar everyone reaches for.

That's why we call it the Daily Balance Bar. It's the no-drama staple for face, body, and peace of mind.

But none of this would exist without the people and the faith that carried me here.

First is God, who continues to give me breath and open doors I never thought to knock on. My grandmother planted the seed — her hands, her wisdom, and that wood stove taught me everything I needed to know about caring for skin the right way. My mom raised me in His word; taught me what strength is and kept me grounded in faith — that foundation is in everything I make. And my husband has been my rock and motivator from day one. I am because of them all. Isaiah 43:19.

When life throws obstacles my way, I hold on to 2 Timothy 1:7 — "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." That scripture keeps me grounded, keeps me moving, and keeps OB&B growing.
